About this episode:

The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) and our Commissioner of Education, Lamont Repolett are embarking on a review of New Jersey public charter schools. With so much false or misguided information spread around about these schools, who better to hear opinions from than parents, teachers, administration, and experts in our state’s charter schools. Over the next few months, PEP will be hosting guests from cities throughout NJ to speak about charter schools and its impact on children.

Most famously known for it’s casinos and boardwalk, Atlantic City and the surrounding towns are in desperate need of different educational options.  With around 92% of total public school enrollment being free and reduced lunch students, this shows families do not have the means to pay for private education if their public education fails them. They have and will travel out of town to send their children to school if it means a quality education is afforded to them. Although A.C. has a lot of money going through its borders, it doesn’t mean all of the residents, or the schools, always benefit from it.
